We automatically collect certain information when you use our service:

  • Pages visited and features used

2.4 Camera Snapshots

When we send alert emails, we temporarily store traffic camera snapshots retrieved from the Ohio Department of Transportation (OHGO) API. These images are stored for 7 days and then automatically deleted.

2.5 State Voting Data

If you participate in our state expansion voting feature, we collect:

  • Your state preference
  • Email address (optional)
  • IP address and timestamp

We work with third-party service providers to operate Commute Snap. We share information only as necessary and require these providers to protect your data.

4.1 Third-Party Services

  • Ohio Department of Transportation (OHGO): We retrieve traffic camera images from the public OHGO API. We do not share your personal information with OHGO.
  • Cloudflare R2: We use Cloudflare R2 for temporary storage of camera snapshot images. Images are automatically deleted after 7 days.
  • Email Service Provider: We use a third-party email service to deliver alert notifications to your email address.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: We use cloud hosting services to operate Commute Snap.

4.2 We Do Not Sell Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order or subpoena), or to:

  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Protect and defend our rights or property
  • Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy:

  • Camera Snapshots: Automatically deleted after 7 days through lifecycle policies
  • Server Logs: Retained for 60 days for security and debugging purposes
  • Deleted Accounts: When you delete your account, we permanently remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law

You can access and update your account information at any time by logging into your account settings.

6.2 Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through your account settings. This will permanently delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.

6.3 Email Preferences

You can manage your alert preferences or disable alerts entirely through your account settings. You will continue to receive important service-related communications even if you disable alerts.
